I'm passionate about the research and writing intrinsic to appellate and post-conviction writ work.
After growing up in Decatur, Texas, and getting a master's degree in education, my first career found me teaching English in high schools in Decatur and Hallsville, Texas.
After much thought, I decided to switch careers and get a law degree at the University of North Texas Dallas College of Law to focus on appellate advocacy. Law was a natural and seemingly inevitable choice as my parents both retired from jobs in the legal realm.
I frequently use and sharpen skills, including attention to detail and presenting the complex as comprehensible, when advocating for my clients across Texas and the United States.
On any given week, I may be writing a brief to one of the intermediate courts of appeals throughout Texas; preparing a writ of habeas corpus; or submitting a petition for discretionary review to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
While in law school, I completed and enjoyed internships and clerkships at federal and Texas state courts of appeal.
I served for two years as one of the founding officers of the UNT College of Law’s Christian Legal Society.
I'm also a State Bar of Texas Bar College Member.
