Ben holds a JD from Mississippi College in Jackson, Mississippi and a BS in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He is admitted in various Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Arkansas, and Michigan courts.

His career includes experience with diverse legal matters, as well as sailing internationally on U.S. flag merchant vessels as a licensed deck officer.
